Paul Duke
MA, LMHC
Paul’s approach facilitates client’s accepting themselves as unique and valuable, within their own spiritual beliefs, sexual/gender orientation, or cultural context, while embracing the possibilities for profound change in their life. He works with clients to help them create genuine closeness with themselves and with those they choose to love.
Paul provides practical coping and behavior changing tools, but also extends beyond that to address healing at the source of the current issues buried in the past. He regularly helps clients suffering from depression and anxiety in individual, couples and group settings. A portion of Paul’s practice is devoted towards difficult life transitions such as divorce, age-related milestones, retirement, or grief.
Paul’s life experience provides him with a broad and deep palette from which to draw his perspectives for healing. He truly enjoys helping clients make changes towards a deeper, more connected and meaningful life.
Paul’s Background
Paul has lived with his wife and children in Tacoma since 1998. Before that, he lived for many years in New York City, Seattle, Dallas and Chicago, mingling with multiple cultures within America. He has had several careers – including actor, risk manager, and financial reporting specialist – and worked extensively in both the for-profit and not-for-profit worlds. He has been actively involved in a church community for most of his life, has been practicing Yoga and Tai Chi for over 20 years, and enjoys being outdoors or hanging out with his family. All of this contributes to a rich background from which he draws real world experience to address healing for a wide variety of people and viewpoints within the context of multiple cultures.
