My practice specializes in treating individuals, couples and families and I offer comprehensive services dealing with:
- Phase of life issues (such as mid-life and end of life crises)
- Lack of intimacy within a marriage or life partnership
- Inability to achieve life goals
- Children and adolescents
- Self defeating choices
- Self esteem issues
- Deeper, unresolved issues that result in current problematic behaviors
In the normal course of a couple’s relationship, people change and the relationship has to adapt. Partners often find that the very thing which drew them together as a couple becomes a stumbling block that separates them. The stresses of life work on the couple, and where there seemed to be smooth sailing, now appears disagreements, tension and hurt. Sometimes this results in the loss of emotional connection in the relationship, and leads to conflict that remains unresolved, broken trust, and distance.
I have experience re-establishing the basic foundation of an intimate partnership, restoring trust, re-building warmth, and re-discovering the good feelings that seemed lost. In doing this together, we will learn, or re-learn, what makes each of the partner feel listened to, cared for, and ultimately able to build a deep and abiding love between together.
Group therapy provides a unique opportunity for people to work with their issues in a safe and proven manner. This happens through providing a fully confidential place to interact freely with others, allowing them to identify, understand and examine these interactions. The confidentiality of the group allows for the kind of feedback that is extremely rare to have with our friends and partners. Group participants can learn how they are received by others, and in many cases, how different this is from their perception of what they expected. The underlying personal dynamics can then be brought to light, and new ways of interacting with others can then be practiced – in the safety and confidentiality of the group.
It has been proven over the decades to be one of the most effective opportunities to make real change in how one is received and felt by others. Many have found it to be one of the most transformative experiences in their life, and are able to make permanent changes to their ability to have satisfying, emotionally intimate relationships with those they love.
