Paul Duke
MA, LMHC
My approach facilitates client’s accepting themselves as unique and valuable, within their own spiritual beliefs, sexual/gender orientation, and cultural context, while embracing the possibilities for profound
change in their life. I work with clients to help them create genuine integration within themselves, and close connection with those they love.
I provide practical coping and behavior changing tools, but also extend beyond that to address healing at the source of the current issues, usually buried in the past. I regularly help clients struggling with intimacy in their relationships, with depression and anxiety. I work with individuals, and couples, and additionally, specialize in using group therapy.
My life experience taught me to appreciate diversity of all kinds! That experience also provides me with a broad and deep palette from which to draw for my work as a therapist. I truly enjoy helping clients make changes towards a deeper, more connected and meaningful life.
Paul’s Background
I am married, and since 1998 have lived
with my wife in Tacoma, where we raised our children. Before that, I lived in New York City, Seattle, Dallas, Ashland and Chicago, mingling with multiple cultures across America. I have been fortunate to have had several careers – including actor, risk manager, and financial reporting specialist – and worked extensively in both the for-profit and not-for-profit worlds. I have been actively involved in a different type of church community in each of the places I’ve lived. I really enjoy socializing and playing Pickleball at People’s Community Center. I have practiced Yoga and Tai Chi for over 30 years, and feel full and at peace when walking in the woods, or hanging out with my family. All of this contributes to a rich background from which I draw real world experience to address healing for a wide variety of people and viewpoints within the context of multiple cultures.
